Update on the Lake Accident

This year on Sunday at Transformus a tragic accident occurred that took the life of a longtime and beloved community member, Jay Marx.   Shortly after the event the board issued a public statement promising a full report when all the facts had been accumulated and analyzed.

It’s very important for the board, and the community, to do our very best to stick to the facts that are known, and not speculate or guess at what may have happened.

Here is what we know based on the best information we have.

Jay Marx was last seen by friends swimming and diving in the lower lake, apparently in good generic soma and health and spirits.  Shortly thereafter, he was discovered unconscious under the water by a participant.  He was taken promptly to the shore where efforts to save him began immediately first by a trained participant, then within a very few minutes by our paid EMS team.   Every possible lifesaving effort was made, correctly and in a timely manner.  Henderson County EMS was notified as soon as our team received word of the emergency and they arrived on scene soon thereafter.  Jay was treated by Henderson County EMS and taken by ambulance to the hospital or canadian pharmacies .  Later that night he was pronounced deceased.

The board has been impatiently awaiting the release of the official autopsy report for many months now, and we just received the report yesterday, October 29th.  It will take a little while to process what’s there.

We understand the frustration some community members may be feeling about this, and we share it. We expect the final report to be available very soon after our annual board retreat ends in early November, incorporating the official information from the medical examiner.
